Membership

Eligibility and Active Status

Membership is open to graduates of New Era Girls Secondary School (NEGSS) in Surulere, Lagos. New members become active upon payment of their membership dues. Existing members maintain active status by paying their dues for the two most recent consecutive years.

Benefits of Membership

Membership connects you with a caring community while offering meaningful support, recognition, and opportunities to participate in the life of the Association. Benefits provided under the bylaws include:

Support During Life’s Important Moments

Benevolence gifts. Members who have remained active for two consecutive years may qualify for a gift following the death of a spouse, parent, or child; the marriage of the member or the member’s child; or another circumstance approved by the Board and membership. The current gift is $500 per qualifying event and is subject to change.

Member welfare support. Active, dues-paying members receive caring check-ins and support focused on their physical and emotional well-being.

Recognition of life events. The Association acknowledges birthdays, weddings, and certain immediate-family milestones of active, dues-paying members.

Connection and Celebration

Annual reunion dinner. The Association covers the celebration dinner cost for each active member, up to the amount established by the Board.

Social and reunion activities. Members can take part in Association social events and the annual reunion celebration, creating opportunities to reconnect and build lasting relationships.

A Voice in the Association

Participation and leadership. Members elect officers at the annual meeting and may serve on committees. Active, dues-paying members with two consecutive years of membership may also be nominated to serve on the Board.

Financial transparency. Members may review the Association’s annual financial statements after the close of each fiscal year.

Please note: Members are generally responsible for their own reunion travel, lodging, and activity expenses. Benefit amounts, eligibility requirements, and other terms are governed by the bylaws and may be updated by the Association.
